(1) “Reading Between the Lines: Reapportionment and Redistricting in Alabama

This workshop defines the total scope of redistricting and reapportionment, explaining the importance each plays in our lives and the effect both have on our vote and representation. It also explores the challenges and options available to confront what will likely be unfair plans put forth to gerrymander legislative, county and state school board districts.

(2a)“Recruiting Electable Candidates” – This workshop focuses on how candidate recruitment can be a useful tool in gaining back our Democratic control both in state offices as well as locally. It also identifies characteristics to look for in potential candidates. It offers suggestions for how to identify and nurture a good prospect while being mindful of ADC limits

(2b)“So, You Think You Can Win?” – This workshop explores resources that candidates must take seriously in order to launch a successful campaign such as financial resources commensurate with the office sought; an enthusiastic following of voters in the district, name recognition, etc. It also explores how to utilize effective media strategies during the campaign.

(3)We Dare Defend Our Right to Vote – This workshop focuses on enacted voter suppression laws and how to fight against them. Information will also be shared about how ADC can get involved in the fight for voting rights locally and learn voting trends.
