The purpose of the Alabama Democratic Conference shall be to conduct voter registration and education campaigns, promote political unity, promote political education through all the county units affiliated with the ADC, establish county political units where none exist, to encourage the development of strong municipal and precinct organizations, to monitor public officials and agencies, to screen and endorse candidates, to advocate and advance the cause of the Democratic Party, to promote good government, to protect the welfare of all Alabamians generally and black Alabamians in particular.
The ADC is the Black Caucus of the Alabama Democratic Party.

In the last few days, there’s been lot of talk discussion, misinformation and some good information concerning the Alabama Democratic Party and its current operation.
To get a full understanding of the background of all this discussion, we have posted on the website a narrative that was written some time ago to give the readers a full understanding of what brought the changes about.

Arthur Shores, First Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Conference
The Alabama Democratic Conference was founded by Arthur Shores, Rufus Lewis, C.G. Gomillion, Q.D. Adamas, Isom Clemon, Beulah Johnson, and Orzell Billingsley in order to support John F. Kennedy's bid for the Democratic nomination for president. Since then, ADC has worked tirelessly to not only advocate for and support candidates to represent our community, but also to influence economic, social, and education policies aimed at making our communities better.

Greetings! Welcome to the official website of the Alabama Democratic Conference.
The Alabama Democratic Conference is a black political caucus, co-founded by Orzell Billingsley and others, in cooperation with the national Democratic party. Formed in 1960 as the Black Political Caucus of Alabama, it is the first statewide organization in Alabama for blacks, created to bring newly registered black voters into the Democratic ranks.
For more than sixty-one years, we have worked to educate the community on the importance of elections and voting rights. Through vetting and endorsement of candidates, we strengthen our political power and target issues that impact the black community such as education, employment, economic and political empowerment. Our work is needed more than ever to ensure that Black voices continue to be heard.
Our intent is to provide you with timely information on issues that will impact the communities in which you live, work, and play.

Membership is open to any person who believes in the purpose of and supports the objectives of the Alabama Democratic Conference.
